Women of Distinction event – first of its kind in Lee County
Cape Coral, FL (April 11, 2017) — The Republican Women of Cape Coral, Federated (RWCCF) held their inaugural Women of Distinction Awards Ceremony at the Lake Kennedy Community Center on Friday April 7, 2017.
The sold-out event celebrated six women of Lee County as role models and highlighted their accomplishments and contributions to the community. The award winners included business professionals, a public official, an educator and a student. The group ranged in age, profession and community involvement.
The 2017 Women of Distinction are: Rana Erbrick, Mary Hess, Robin Dawn Ryan, Shannon Treece, Sally Jackson and Connie Ramos-Williams. Ramos-Williams was also chosen as the first Woman of Year by the event’s planning committee.
The event also served as a fundraiser. A portion of the proceeds will go to the group’s Caring for America projects which include veteran issues such as training rescue dogs for veterans with PTSD. “We surpassed all our goals with this event” says Missi Lastra, RWCCF President. “The success of this event has allowed us to provide our first scholarship to a local youth at the Mayor’s Scholarship Dinner later this month.” The event served as an outreach effort for the new club whose mission is to educate and inform residents of the candidates and issues that affect our daily lives.
